Happy

In your strong arms,
I am loved.
My hand in yours,
I am safe.
Your lips on my neck,
I am cherished.
Your fingers on my skin,
I am soothed.
The smile in your eyes,
I am happy.

Falling

Falling, spinning,

Round and round,

No one to catch me,

Before hitting the ground.

Turning, twisting,

Down and down

Into the darkness,

I’m going to drown.

The return

They're back.
I hear them screaming, as I lie in my bed,
Tensed as I listen to them close by.

Then I wait.
I relax, as their screaching comes closer,
Calmed by their playful cry.

They are swifts.
Returned for the summer, I feel joyful,
Watching them wheel and race in the sky.

Touch

Your fingertips lightly brush my hand,
I smell the sweet warmth of your skin.
Your eyelashes whisper against my cheek,
Your breath hot on my neck.

Your arms fold me to you,
I feel your strength overwhelm me.
Your love floods through my veins,
Your energy infuses my body.

Your touch is electifying,
I feel the intensity of your emotion.
Your fingers entwine with mine,
Your eyes read my mind.

The Winter Light

Beautiful winter light,
Turning everything it touches golden.
Soft icy breeze,
Fluttering the leaves still clinging.

The tide is lapping,
Beginning to flood the sodden marshes.
At the edge,
Birds wadding and dotting inbetween waves.

Above distant trees,
Bright colours stripe into the sky.
The buzzard flies,
Swans gracefully arrive on the water.

The light fades,
Dark clouds are starting to gather.
The sun turns grey,
Weak, it's light hidden and dull.

The spit of rain,
Blown in a strengthening wind.
Birds quieten,
Darting for cover, hiding from the storm.

An arctic blast,
Tiny specks of snow aimlessly whirling.
The grip of winter,
As snow clouds bring a different light.

Top Speed

Taking a walk along the road,
The cool breeze freshens my skin.
Clouds skating past, golden sunlight flickers,
Catching on leaves, bright red, orange and yellow.

Cars go racing by, got to get there,
Got to get there now and fast!
Passing by life, rushing and missing,
Enclosed in a box, music blaring.

Strolling down the road,
A roe deer, silent and secretly,
Slips between the trees.
A buzzard gliding above the fields.

Van driver zooming past,
One eye on the clock, tick tock.
One hand on a sandwich,
Bite munch, slurp of drink.

Sauntering on, up the hill,
Birds twittering, chirping company.
Ruby berries on a holly bush,
Gobble, gulp, they're gone.

Monkey Nonsense

Three little monkeys, sitting on the fence,
They counted their money and they had thirty pence.
None of them knew what to buy for the best,
So they put it back in their pockets and just had a rest.

(Just for Ruth!)

Flying High

Take me with you, flying high.
I can not live without you,
Take me with you, in the sky.
Nothing else for me to do.

Take me with you, but a sigh,
You leave me here alone.
Take me with you, let me cry,
Emptiness inside has grown.

Climb Up

The view from here is fabulous,
Come up, climb up and see.
The rolling hills before us,
Green and beautiful to me.
The sky stretches around about,
Soft clouds are sailing free.
People below are tiny as ants,
As busy, I’m sure you’ll agree.

The view from here is amazing,
Please, climb up and join me.
Feel the wind tugging your hair,
See the birds, the flowers, a lone tree.
The colour completely breathtaking,
The freedom brings life to me.
Come up, climb up and look,
The most lovely thing you’ll see.

Beautiful

You are amazingly beautiful,
I don’t care what anyone else says.
It doesn’t matter the colour of your skin,
If your hair is curly or straight.
Your nose is perfect, your bottom is cute,
A gorgeous smile with brilliant teeth.

Your beauty comes from within,
The incredible person inside.
Your sense of humour and wit,
The caring and loving you give.
Always let the world see yourself,
Shining through those stunning eyes.

What?

What did I come upstairs for, can somebody give me a clue?
I know it was important, I’ve no idea what to do.
Maybe if I return to the beginning, back to where I came from,
I may remember what I came for, and start the washing machine too.

I’m back in the kitchen now, thinking of talking to you.
There must be something to do here, not just enjoying the view.
I’m sure I came here for something, maybe to do the dishes?
But first before I get started, I’ll just pop upstairs to the loo.

I Want

I want to feel your hand in mine,
Soft and warm and tight.
I want to see your beaming face,
Smiling, clean and bright.

I want you to be happy, love,
At home and when you’re away.
Always in my thoughts, love,
Forever and a day.

Chocolate

Hard and dark,
Smooth and sweet.

Melting and naughty,
My little treat.

Soothing and healing,
Luscious like velvet.
Heavenly and rich.
My little secret.

Tears

There were tears when first I saw your face,
Tears when you wouldn’t sleep.
There were tears with your first smile,
And tears when you took your first step.
Yet more tears when you took a tumble,
And tears when you stamped your feet.
My tears and yours were mixed,
But the memories I still love to keep.

The Winner

Sitting in a locked room,
Hidden from the light,
You dare not face the world outside,
Incase the newsman's right.
How long do you think you can last,
You're a fool to think you're safe.
They'll get to you,
Through the keyhole, through the cracks.
In they'll creep,
An odourless vapour to infilltrate innocent lungs.
Your blind facts,
Will never know.

Nothing you can say to me,
Will change my mind.
I was born to fight,
Not to run from opposition.
Who in the end do you think will win,
After the world's gone mad.
Someone long ago won,
He pushed the self-destruct button.
Now he stands above,
Looking over frenzied men;
Laughing at the joke,
Very amused.

Self Destruct

I stumble on through the crowd,
Staring faces, grey and blank;
There's got to be that silver lined cloud,
Everyone's giving up the search.
This crowd will turn on itself,
Destroy everything for nothing.

Around me are the colours of the season,
Yellow, orange, gold and brown.
There is no other warmth left,
The sun is falling away;
Ashamed of what it sees,
The self-inflicted suffering for no reason.

The confusion grows and erupts,
The crowd explodes and engulfs everything.
I am smothered in it's depths,
But I am fighting for life.
The survival of the fittest is taught to the youth,
There is a misunderstanding in their minds.

Once more the crowd will congregate,
The facts before unseeing eyes.
The world has lost it's destination,
It has switched to self destruct.
The youth are left to fight the war,
The battle to disconnect the time bomb.

Go Back to Sleep

Shh, pet, go back to sleep,
There's something on my mind dear,
I'm sure that it will keep.
I've been lieing wide awake a while,
Trying to clear my head.
Thought I'd leave you to it,
And go downstairs instead.

Shh, love, go back to sleep,
There's nothing in your room honey,
No need for you to peep.
I'm staying here while you lie down,
Don't worry, I'll be near.
You've had a nasty dream,
But nothing now to fear.

Shh, please go back to sleep,
There's no need to get up yet,
From your bed don't leap.
I've only just got back to my bed,
I need to have a rest.
We could just all get up,
I think that would be best.

Alive!

The sun rises and falls,
The moon's glow cools the sky.
The birds fly and sing,
Dogs bark, cats mew;
They're alive!

The flowers bloom and fade,
The tree naked, then bursts into life.
The rivers flow fast, then trickle,
The mountains bursting with life, then snow-capped.
They're alive!

Babies sleeping, howling, cooing,
Toddlers chatting and playing.
School children laughing, then shouting,
Teens sulking and aimless.
They're alive!

The sun touches my skin,
The moon soothes my sleep.
Nature's sights and sounds engulf me,
Youth around me all the time.
I'm alive!

But When

Although I see myself again,
I havent' changed.
I just understand more,
I don't want to feel now.
The world is in my head,
It is in confusion;
Eventually life and love will break free.

But when, it can't be too soon,
Then I shall feel again.
The world in my head will,
Come to life and love,
Life and love will come;
To the world,
And I shall live again.

What I'd See

If I could stand outside myself,
This is what I'd see.
A poor child, decieved and abused,
Afraid to believe and trust.
The world surrounding her,
Cold and uncaring.
Oblivious of her plight.
